Jack Dromey's Response to The Chancellor in the Commons regarding Police Cuts

Just days ago, reeling from the biggest police cuts in Europe of 17,000 police officers, our police service was facing the catastrophe of being cut in half over the next 5 yrs.

Pressure from the public, the police and the Labour Party forced the Government to think again, including embracing our proposals for sensible savings on procurement.

Does the Chancellor agree that the first duty of any government is the safety and security of its citizens and that u-turns, however belated and however grudging are to be welcomed?
