Jack Dromey, MP for Erdington, has congratulated pupils who collected their GCSE results in and around the constituency. The results are a marked improvement from the last academic year in a number of local schools.
Students from Highclare School saw another 100% pass rate with 93% gaining 5 A* to C grades and 81% of students gaining five or more A* to C grades.
The Erdington Academy achieved improved results in core subjects with an increase of 8% in students achieving A* to C in both Mathematics and English combined.
St Edmund Campion Catholic Schools, English students exceeded the national average, with 69% of students achieving an A* - C Grade. In Mathematics results were in line with national average results.
The North Birmingham Academy saw enhanced results with the 5 A*-C Maths and English measure improving from last year, whilst the school saw exceptionally high results from departments such as Drama with 95% of students attaining A*-C grades.
After a challenging year Greenwood Academy has improved and is in line with national expectations for progress in their 8 score (progress of 8 subjects from their starting points at the start of year 7). The academy also improved on their results in English Language and English Literature from 2015.

“It is tremendous to see so many young people rewarded for their hard work. I am proud to represent Erdington, a constituency rich in talent. These results are a true testament to the talent of local young people.
Opening results can be a daunting prospect. However, these results show great potential for the young people of Erdington and this will help them on their next stage towards their future educational and career goals. I am confident that whatever path they treed, they will succeed.”
